Developmental Dollars Grants

The 2009-10 Developmental Dollars Program brought in a record number of proposals. The MCSAAC program supports nonprofits and schools as they seek to build assets in, and educate youth about substance abuse prevention. “The variety and quality of the ideas proposed by the nonprofits this year were just tremendous,” remarked Anthony Salvatore, Chairman of MCSAAC’s Board of Directors and Chief of Police of Cromwell. “Families with kids from six to sixteen throughout Middlesex County will benefit from these grants.”

Awards have been made to the North End Action Team for its hiking club; Coginchaug Regional, Westbrook, and Morgan High Schools for Peer Counseling and other educational programs; Durham-Middlefield Youth & Family Services for substance abuse speakers; Rushford Center for its work with middle school students; Northern Middlesex YMCA for their Y Be Fit! program; Wesleyan University Student Clubs for a new teen drop-in center; Green Street Arts for theater work on substance abuse issues; John Lyman School for the Go Far program; and Oddfellows Playhouse for its Neighborhood Troupes and Arts Explorers programs.
